The Sandman live-action adaptation, based on author Neil Gaiman's popular graphic novel, has been renewed by streaming service Netflix for a second season.
The news was leaked by DC Comics, the publisher of the book. It was formally announced in the evening. Gaiman is thrilled to work with Netflix, Warner Bros., fellow executive producers Allan Heinberg and David Goyer, and himself to bring more The Sandman stories to life.
Millions of people have welcomed and watched the Lord of Dreams and his family in The Sandman stories on Netflix, from regular Sandman fans to people who became obsessed with him after watching the show.
"Millions of people have watched and loved it," Gaiman said in a prepared statement.
There are some great stories waiting for Morpheus and the rest of the Endless Family to meet them, not to mention a host of other Endless Family members. No one will be happier about the news than The Sandman cast and crew, who are the biggest Sandman fans in the world."
It's time to get back to work. Lucifer is waiting for Morpheus to return to Hell, and we have a dinner to attend. As a result, there were two weeks after the first season's August 5 release of a surprise 11th episode. The Sandman focuses on Tom Sturridge's Morpheus, the king of dreams, who has been imprisoned for 105 years and sets out to restore order in his kingdom.
Gwendoline Christie, Vivienne Acheampong, Boyd Holbrook, Charles Dance, Asim Chaudhry, Sanjeev Bhaskar, David Thewlis, Stephen Fry, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Mason Alexander Park, and Donna Preston star alongside him.
